The youth group alternates between kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Kali. This provides a varied training programme and new challenges, whilst enabling the young people to learn to work towards their goals, cope with setbacks and develop practical skills.

This is how you start
No experience or particular fitness level is required to get started.
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early and let them know you’re new.
That way, you’ll get a better idea of the variety and the group.

Frequently asked questions
The group is for pupils in Years 5–7. You don’t need any previous experience and can join even if you don’t know anyone there already.
The group gains experience in a range of martial arts styles, including Kali, BJJ and kickboxing. The programme varies from time to time, ensuring that the young people experience both variety and progression.
Making mistakes is part of the learning process. You’ll be set tasks that may be difficult at first, and you’ll learn to seek guidance, make adjustments and try again. The aim isn’t to be able to do everything straight away, but to develop over time and become more confident in tackling new challenges.
No. You train at your own level and build up your strength, fitness and coordination over time.
Training is built up gradually. The level of contact and intensity are tailored to the exercise, age and experience. No one is thrown straight into hard sparring.
Wear normal workout clothes without zips, metal or sharp details. You’ll be exercising barefoot. Bring a water bottle and a bag for your clothes and belongings.
Not during the free trial week. Necessary equipment can be borrowed. After signing up, you will need the starter pack that belongs to the youth class. Wait to purchase until you have received the correct information from the instructor.

Meet 10–15 minutes before your class so you have time to change and be ready when we start. If you arrive after the class has begun, you will have to wait until the next session.
When parking outside Ægirsvei 10, your car's number plate must be registered to receive 2.5 hours of free parking.
Parents must ensure a safe and clear agreement for drop-off and pick-up. Inform the instructor if another adult is collecting, or if the young person has permission to walk home alone.
It's fine for an adult to be present the first time. Normally, we prefer a quiet environment for training. Discuss with the instructor if it's necessary for a guardian to be nearby.
Absences are recorded in the attendance register. Regular attendance makes it easier to follow the lessons and is important if you wish to be assessed.
Do not exercise if you have a fever, are vomiting, have a contagious illness, have contagious skin conditions or open wounds. If you have an injury, please inform the instructor before the class so that you can discuss whether the workout can be adapted.
No. Grading is a voluntary objective. For youth, there are requirements for consistent attendance and effort, and the form must be correctly completed and submitted by the deadline. See the term calendar for dates.
The youth party generally follows school holidays. Check the schedule for start dates, holidays, gradings, and training camps.
Families in need of financial support can find out about the Leisure Fund in Kristiansand Municipality. KKS provides information about the scheme, but it is the municipality that processes the applications.
Label everything with your name. Take all your belongings home with you, wash your sportswear and air out or clean your gloves and other equipment after use. Clean equipment is important for both your well-being and hygiene.
